Good question. In short, we require your SSN as part of our background check on all players.
As part of operating a social sports and casino product, we run an Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Funding Program to ensure all funds are legitimate. The program requires all players to pass a verification process known as KYC or Know Your Customer.
To satisfy KYC at Kickr, we check your details, including your SSN, with our third-party identity and verification provider, Persona. They run the checks on our behalf.
All sensitive information, including your SSN, images of government identification documents, and selfies, is stored on Persona and not brought into our internal systems. Internally, we subscribe to a least access policy; that is, staff only have enough access to perform their duties. Our compliance team are the only Kickr staff members who have access to Persona.
If you decide to play with us at Kickr, you can request that your data be deleted anytime.
We aim to be transparent about our processes and what we need your data for.
